iconix to identify phishing

Friday, August 4th, 2006

It is interesting how I came across this particular company that protects the users by identifying spam. I was reading my gmail and if you have noticed there is a small area on top of the inbox headers where the context sensitive text ads will be displayed and when I was looking at one of the spam mails I found the link for this iconix and clicked on it and downloaded the application and so far only limited companies support iconix standard but a good step in the right direction.

According to them here is what they do:

Iconix eMail ID confirms the source of email messages using industry-standard authentication technologies such as Sender ID and DomainKeys. After we get a positive result from these authentication checks, we check that result against a list of identified senders. This multi-step process is required to make sure we aren’t adding a Truemark icon to a spoofed message.”
